We kicked off the winter with a series of events in Pittsburgh, Italy and NYC. As part of our PearlArts Round-Up, we’re excited to share our latest inspiring experiences and thank all the individuals who made them possible. We hope to see you in upcoming events and hear what has you inspired recently!

1. STAYCEE PEARL dance project & Soy Sos in Italy!

(Dec 2019) We are grateful to have had the opportunity to share sol. movement sessions and our work-in-progress CIRCLES internationally. Very special thanks to all of our hosts: Luigi Fortunato and Ballet Arts Center, Emma Cianchi and Art Garage, and Simona De Tullio and X PREMIO INTERNAZIONALE DI DANZA SAN NICOLA for welcoming SPdp&SS and making our experience a memorable one. We cannot wait to come back!

2. The Happening

(Jan 30 2020) When we asked Joy-Marie Thompson (former STAYCEE PEARL dance project & Soy Sos dancer) what she needed to host The Happening at PearlArts Studios, we were puzzled to hear “just yourselves and some art supplies you like.” What started as a gathering became an engaging party with many newcomers, old friends and Amos Levy and DJ Soy SOS filling the space with creative joy.

3. insideTRACK Residency with LaTrea Derome

(Jan 25 2020) If you’ve been a follower of STAYCEE PEARL dance project & Soy Sos then you have probably seen our company dancer LaTrea Derome grow up on stage. As the inaugural member of PearlArts’ new insideTRACK residency, LaTrea presented his work-in-progress “_lostncomplex” at the studio in the presence of family and friends. We are so proud and honored to see the first look into this project and hope to see more soon.

4. APAP | NYU Tisch | BIFOLD: An Evening of Works

(Jan 11- Feb 1 2020) Just when you thought we’d take a quick break from class and performing, we made two trips to NYC! We performed at the Association of Performing Arts Professionals | NYC Conference with sol. We returned to teach a sol. movement session and a snippet of CIRCLES (work-in-progress) at NYU Tisch following a long-awaited dance program with Sidra Bell Dance New York in the Gelsey Kirkland Center in Brooklyn. Shout out to Giada Ferrone of NYU Tisch, Sidra Bell, Peter Mitchell, tech crew at GK Arts Center, and all the dancers, family and friends who made it happen!
