Seeking Teaching Artist Apprentices!
PearlArts Studios extensions (PASe) is looking for current seniors and recent graduates/continued education students interested in movement and arts education! We are offering a paid apprenticeship opportunity through our 12 week program. Teaching Artist Apprenticeship Program! PASe provides dance programming in underserved communities for youth in grades k-8 through both in-school and out-of-school programming. Apprentices must be willing to travel to multiple schools in the between the East Side, Homestead, and Downtown communities in Pittsburgh.
Each week, apprentices will observe our teaching artists at work and then receive hands-on training. Apprentices will also receive professional development from our Education Director, Genna Styles, BFA, M.Ed, Ed.D Candidate in Out of School Learning at the University of Pittsburgh, PASe instructors, sessions with Co- Founder and Artistic Director Staycee Pearl, and time with the professional dancers of STAYCEE PEARL dance project & Soy Sos. By the end of the program, apprentices will be ready to go from training to teaching with the potential of joining our PASe team.
PearlArts Studios serves as a creative vehicle for the sound, dance, and visual explorations of STAYCEE PEARL dance project & Soy Sos as well as Tuff Sound Recording. PearlArts Studios has firmly established a base in the Mine Factory Building in the Homewood/Point Breeze neighborhood, serving the dance community with affordable rehearsal and event space, residency opportunities, movement classes, and art and dance workshops. committed to providing compelling and comprehensive dance experiences inside and beyond the walls of the studio through in school and out of school programing opportunities that explore and challenge social/political world concepts and issues.

Program Details / Tasks:
Pre Program: orientation with some of the top professionals in dance, dance education, and teaching artistry.
Milestone 1: Observe classroom environments and support creative after school programs in multiple setting and styles
Milestone 2: Observe and grow while leading sections of class assigned by lead teaching artists.
Milestone 3: Observe and support by contributing to lesson plans.
Milestone 4: Receive valuable coaching and potential opportunity to Co-teach an assigned lesson.
Milestone 5: Refine and Reflect on the practice thus far through structured feedback.
Milestone 6: Apply feedback and lead full class(s).
Post Program: Exit interview and Potential job opportunities
COMMITMENT: Sessions can vary on days between M-F during the hours of 9-5.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Shared philosophical values inherent in PearlArts Studios mission
Prior experience working with children from K-8th grade a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively promoting Education
Programs
Demonstrates collaborative skills, accepts constructive criticism and implements effective
problem-solving.
Ability to interact with the diverse individuals in age, background, and roles such as parents,
students, donors, teachers, and key community partners.
Obtain required clearances.
Must have valid driver's license and a car.
BENEFITS:
Receive a stipend for the length of the session.
PASe will reimburse the cost of obtaining required clearances (with submission of receipts).
